I learned many things about myself from doing this research. I never really took the time to actually talk to my parents about where I came from, so it was nice to do it now.
Overall, I learned that I am very different from where I came from. It proves one of my ideas of language, that it reflects where we come from. Because I haven't lived in Mississippi or Louisiana, I don't have much exposure to the culture and language there. Instead, the way I speak would have to reflect my back round from Decatur.

My Survey Questions
Where did my relatives originate? What language did my relatives speak? How were you taught to speak? Did you teach me to speak the same way?
Since I don't have a connection with my grandparents, these questions are for my parents only.

Secondary Research
From talking to my mom, I have found out that many of my relatives come from Louisiana, and speak Cajun English. Cajun English mostly comes from southern Louisiana, and derives from Cajun French. Cajun English isn't wide spoken, but for those who speak it, there is a distinct accent.

My Research Plan
To find out where I come from, the only people I need to interview are my family. Once I find out that, I can go on to learn more about the that language by using the internet and books.
My Research Goal(s)
My goal is to learn more about where I came from. I want to know what kind of language my relatives spoke and how that has had an influence on me.
